Product Information

Fuel polishing is the technological cleaning process which removes water and particulates from diesel fuel which is stored for the medium to long term.

This process keeps the fuel at optimum condition and helps prevent fuel related engine and generator failures. Click here to find out more information about what our fuel polishing systems offer.

There are many different stages in the fuel polishing process which follow one after the other in a specific sequence. This ensures the water, sludge, sediment and other contaminate is removed from the fuel (see below).

The fuel polishing process

By removing the bacterial content and neutralising any residual micro-fine particles, the infection simply cannot return; thus ensuring that the WASP Pure Fuel Systems are not only the most effective way of maintaining fuel quality, but is environmentally friendly too, as no chemicals or  biocides are used in this process.

WASP Fuel Polishing Explained

Fuel Polishing Systems Overview

As experts in the field, we understand how fuel degrades and how the new fuel specfications affect your back-up generator. Thats why we innovate, design, manufacture and supply technologically advanced systems that protect your investments - reducing your costs, your carbon footprints and dramatically reducing the risk of generator failure during emergencies as well as increasing efficiency and maintaining continuity.

Which Fuel Polishing System do I need?

We design and build a varied range of Fuel Polishing Systems for customers in a wide range of industries, mainly Data Centres, Banking and Healthcare.

In summary, the type of system you need will vary depending on your tank size, type of generator and requirements. We create systems for main generators, day generators and boats; we can even make them portable. By designing and building systems in house, we have the flexibility and expertise to design and manufacture products specifically to your budget, requirements and specifications.

Alternatively, if you already know your requirements, we have compared our offerings below.

Our standard offer begins at 8 lit/min 24v DC powered, and ranges up to 400 lit/min 220v 50hz 1ph AC powered. We custom build as well, with our largest unit currently being able to handle up to 1600 lit/min (that's nearly 100,000 litres per hour).

Systems typically have manual, automatic (programmable timer) and BMS control as standard. They are self pumping and self monitoring fuel cleaning devices which are typically installed near to your fuel tanks. We also offer portable systems, units in IP rated enclosures, and frame mounted units and field bus communication options.

Please note, the flow rates listed above assume zero lift/head. The flow will reduce if the lift or head is a large amount on smaller systems. On the larger units (40 lit/min and above) the pumps tend to be stronger so a lift of 10m or so would typically not see any noticeable reduction in speed.

The Best Protection

Understanding of the issues of fuel is at the heart of any WASP PFS system, as is an understanding of what is required not only to keep that fuel clean, but how to achieve it with minimal fuss.

We know there is a choice in the fuel cleaning market, so why should you consider a WASP system? Well for starters we are the market leaders in fuel cleaning technology, and have been supplying fuel cleaning systems for longer than anyone else. We are the largest suppliers in Europe for these systems, and our experience in this market means we are years ahead of other systems in terms of technology, performance and functionality.

Our patented centrifugal cleaning process, coupled with our ability to remove emulsified water from fuel, and our ability to clean fuel to the smallest micron levels whist not reducing speed, means we stand out in the market – no other system can offer these features.

We manufacture our own filtration stages to ensure we offer the best performance levels (we do not need to use 3rd party filters); this means we are sure of our performance and can back up the numbers too.

All our systems are continually rated; meaning they can run 24-7 if you want them to. Unlike some on the market today, we have spent a long time finding the correct and strongest pumps. We do not have to switch our systems on and off to stop them overheating; they have been correctly specified, designed and built to ensure maximum performance and reliability.

Then there is the anti-bacterial function. Not only do we control and remove the live bacterial content, but we also neutralise any small bacterial matter that is left. Moreover, our 2 micron cleaning system will remove the bacterial at a cellular level (please refer to the “Understanding the problems of fuel - Bacterial infection” section for more details).

So in summary, our systems are better developed, faster, more efficient and have significantly more functionality that any other in the market today. We can offer benefits to you that no other system can, such asno1

  • Fuel cleaning to 2 micron
  • Pre-cleaning to 100, 60, 30 and 10 micron
  • Emulsified and free water removal
  • Fuel bug removal and neutralisation
  • BMS integration as standard
  • Automatic operation and protection
  • Programmable timing for auto switch on/off
  • External control mode
  • Multi-monitoring system
  • Continually rated

With functionality like this, it’s no wonder we are No. 1 in the industry. So when it comes to ensuring your fuel is clean, who are you really going to trust? If you would like to see a brief example of the Separ water separation technology we employ in our units, please view the following you-tube video.
